Discovering Thyroid Autoimmune Diseases

Doctors of the USA welcomes Stacey Thureen, a Thyroid and Autoimmune Patient Advocate, to talk about her personal journey with thyroid autoimmune disease. Since March is the National Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month, this is the perfect time to educate the listeners about Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Stacey's specific autoimmune disease and is the most common thyroid disease in the United States. Stacey currently works on a variety of freelance writing, media and communication projects for small businesses, non-profits, print media, and production. Previously, she worked in commercial television news and as a communications director for a Boston area non-profit. Whether it is writing, producing, or speaking Stacey enjoys working on projects that teach, inspire, and give perspective and a sense of purpose to others. In 2011 Stacey did just that when she was given the opportunity to share publicly about her thyroid journey. Since then, Stacey continues to be an active voice in raising thyroid awareness. She was featured in the January 2012 edition of Empower Magazine, has been a live guest on the Boston-based Jordan Rich radio show, as well as eFitFamily radio. She regularly blogs about her personal experience, writes about thyroid health for Examiner.com, and is a contributing writer for AutoimmuneMom.com . In June 2012, one year after her thyroid surgery, Stacey's story A New Voice was featured on I am Second.
