Israel's radical Ultra-Orthodox moves leftward [politically] - Mar 18,2013

For a long time, the left has [unfairly] lumped the whole Israeli right [including the nationalist end, which I identify with], with the Ultra-Orthodox. But political alliances seem to be shifting. The radical Haredim have attacked Naftali Bennett and his heroic Habayit Hayehudi Party. Rav Oveida Yousef, leader of the Shas Party, has called Bennets party "the party of the Goyim [non-Jews]", which could not be further from the truth. Clearly, the Haredim are so stuck with maintaining their monopoly over the religious life in Israel that theyre willing to do anything, even if it means supporting policies thatll endanger her survival. For clearly, Rav Oveida Yousef, his Shas party, and other extreme Ultra-Orthodox groups, have come to understand that their attacks against Bennett and his heroic Habayit Hayehudi Party have failed misrably, with Bennett even getting influence over religious life in Israel. So now, to spite Bennett, they have decided to support suicidal terrorital concessions over to the "Palestinians" and to demonize Jews, who live in the territories. Tonight, I discuss this "shift" of the Ultra-Orthodox, as they cant take that a non-haredi Jew would get any influence over religious life in Israel and why I still think that Naftali Bennett represents the beautiful values of the Torah way more than the radical Ultra-Orthodox do.
